Exploring the paradox of destruction and creation is Shiva, doing his cosmic dance.
The painting depicts the cosmic balance by embodying the idea that creation and destruction are closely related and fundamental to each other’s existence. Shiva, generally perceived as the destroyer is also, ironically the creator. The entire cycle of life rests upon both destruction and creation, and one can’t come into force without the other. Shiva destroys and in the process, stimulates creation, thereby, also adorning the role of a creator. The artistic representation shows Shiva being one with the elements of creation. Shiva, here, symbolizes both Nothingness and Infinite possibilities at the same time. Some of the symbolisms in the painting:
Roots growing out of Shiva’s body- Shiva being one with Nature.
Ash on his body- symbolizes destruction.
Serpent- latent, unmanifested energy.
Ganga- the regenerative property of Nature.
Red in the background-signifying womb; creation.
Water body- source of life. Semi closed eyes- a new dimension of perception
Dimensions: 24"x 30". Material used: Acrylic paints, ash for Shiva’s body, soil for Shiva’s hair
