‘by Woman’ exists because of my mother. I grew up watching her incredibly immersed while she would handcraft beautiful pieces. My father, younger sister and I would spend hours roaming room to room in our little apartment thinking which wall it could be placed. There are millions of such fathers and sons and daughters who see their wives and mothers and daughters create magic with their hands, every day. 'by Woman’ is for them- a wall in the room of the world to showcase their talent.
The Woman wonders if a granddaughter of the decade following 2030 will experience the joy of holding a doll of made of cloth, beads and buttons, that her granny took days or even months to make. Will a son feel the love and warmth of his father when he gifts the son with a handmade wooden toy, or their eyes will recon only the glimmer of touch screens and drones?
Since time immemorial, necklaces have been used as an expression of the self. The concept of necklaces have travelled from the earliest ones made of fish bones, found in the caves of Monaco, to shells, clay and assorted pieces of metals in ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt and India. We are redefining it further by pioneering avant garde techniques of necklace craft. Explore W adornments- a collection of statement necklaces, to find more about our work.
